The Ritz-Carlton Debuts in Thamel: Marriott and Chaudhary Group Partner to Elevate Nepal's Luxury Hospitality

Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle expressed great enthusiasm for the entry of the iconic luxury hotel brand, "The Ritz-Carlton," into Nepal, labeling it a pivotal milestone for the nation's tourism sector. The discussion included David Marriott, Chairman of Marriott International, and executives from their domestic partner, the Chaudhary Group (CG), occurring just a day after the hospitality leaders announced their joint venture to open a Ritz-Carlton hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu. Minister Wagle thanked David Marriott for bringing the world-renowned brand to Nepal, noting that its presence could establish the country as a premier destination for global billionaires, inject vibrant energy into the investment climate, and elevate local tourism to unprecedented heights. Emphasizing the newly formed government's dedication to maintaining a business-friendly environment, Wagle further urged Marriott to look beyond the Kathmandu Valley for future expansions, promising robust government backing in legal and infrastructure facilitation. In response, David Marriott lauded Nepal's natural appeal for trekking and mountains, assuring that The Ritz-Carlton would heavily market this world-class image globally. Rahul Chaudhary, Managing Director of CG Hospitality Holdings, shared this optimism, noting that while the new administration has significantly revived investor confidence, sustained state assistance remains critical for the project's long-term success.
