IRD Urges Consumers to Register Bills for Taxpayer Reward Program

The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has urged consumers to register original PAN and VAT bills through its newly launched online portal to participate in the taxpayer incentive program, offering daily cash prizes of Rs. 100,000 and a Rs. 1 million bumper reward every 15 days.

IRD Urges Consumers to Register Bills for Taxpayer Reward Program

The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has called on consumers to register their original PAN and VAT bills to participate in the government's taxpayer incentive reward program. Consumers who have purchased goods or services worth more than Rs. 100 in cash since Shrawan 1 can upload their bills through the newly launched portal, prize.ird.gov.np. The department clarified that purchases made through QR payments are already integrated into the system, so those consumers do not need to register their bills, although they must keep the original invoices for verification. The IRD said it plans to announce the first 15-day results of the incentive program next week, provided there are no major technical issues. Under the scheme, one consumer will receive Rs. 100,000 in cash every day after tax deduction, while one lucky winner will receive a Rs. 1 million bumper prize every 15 days. The initiative was introduced in the FY 2083/84 budget to encourage tax compliance and promote the culture of requesting VAT and PAN bills for purchases.
