PM Balen Heads to Mustang, Gyanendra Shahi Calls It a Private Visit
Prime Minister Balendra Shah has departed for Mustang by road, with RPP leader Gyanendra Shahi describing the trip as a private visit to the Khampa Monastery and urging that it not be unnecessarily politicized.
Prime Minister Balendra Shah has departed for Mustang by road on Friday morning. The visit has drawn political commentary from Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) parliamentary party leader Gyanendra Shahi, who claimed that the Prime Minister was traveling to Mustang on a private visit to pay homage at the Khampa Monastery. In a social media post, Shahi objected to the way the Prime Minister’s Mustang trip was being portrayed publicly and argued that a private visit should not be turned into a political controversy. He also questioned the need for a large security entourage during a personal trip. Shahi said the Prime Minister should be allowed some personal time and freedom to move around privately, adding that not every activity involving the Prime Minister needs to be given a political interpretation. He emphasized that the Mustang visit should be viewed as a personal trip rather than unnecessarily politicized.
