Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle Links Stock Market Drop to Massive Rs. 1 Kharda Anti-Corruption Crackdown

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle clarified in Parliament that the recent NEPSE downturn is driven by psychological panic over a Rs. 100 Billion (1 Kharda) ongoing legal investigation into capital market and insurance scams.

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle Links Stock Market Drop to Massive Rs. 1 Kharda Anti-Corruption Crackdown

Finance Minister indicated that a temporary phase of market uncertainty is natural when the law begins to crack down on large-scale institutional misconduct. However, he reassured innocent, law-abiding retail investors that they have no reason to panic over the ongoing regulatory cleanup. Dr. Wagle further emphasized that the state's focus remains fixed on structural integrity rather than daily speculation, stating, "We do not judge the economy by how many points the stock market gains or loses in an hour. The government's primary focus is on the long-term health and stability of the market. Our priority is to make the market transparent, dignified, and trustworthy." He concluded that while the steps taken to purge corrupt practices from the capital market might cause temporary pain, they will ultimately fortify investor protection and create a resilient foundation for the future.
