Tomorrow at 4 PM: Dr. Swarnim Wagle to Unveil Radical New Budget

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle will unveil Nepal’s national budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84 tomorrow at 4:00 PM during a joint session of the Federal Parliament. Following the constitutional requirement to present the budget on Jestha 15 (Republic Day), all parliamentarians have been ordered by Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal to be in their seats by 3:45 PM. Coming a day after the submission of the FY 2082/83 Economic Survey, Dr. Wagle warned of severe resource constraints but pledged that the government would break traditional fiscal frameworks. Backed by a fresh mandate, the budget will prioritize redirecting public resources and private investment into high-return sectors such as IT, energy, tourism, and agriculture to foster long-overdue economic transformation.
