Farmers in Dhading’s Benighat Rorang are crossing landslide-hit roads to bring their vegetables to market, fearing that unsold produce could wipe out their investment.
Farmers in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality, Dhading, are taking significant risks to transport their agricultural produce to market despite dangerous road conditions at Krishnabhir along the Prithvi Highway. Continuous landslides, falling rocks, mud and flood damage have made transportation extremely difficult, forcing some farmers to carry vegetable loads through hazardous sections of the road. With limited access to markets, farmers face the dual pressure of physical danger and financial losses, as failing to sell their produce on time could leave them unable to recover their investment. The disruption of roads around Krishnabhir and Parewabhir following the Trishuli River floods has further affected the livelihoods of farming communities.
