Ujyalo Nepal Party has launched a public signature campaign demanding the government withdraw taxes imposed on electricity and take steps to recover outstanding electricity dues from dedicated and trunk-line consumers. The campaign began at Maitighar in Kathmandu, where party chairperson Kulman Ghising argued that electricity and induction-based appliances should be encouraged rather than burdened with additional taxes. He called on the government to scrap the electricity tax, saying policies should promote wider use of electricity and induction technology. The party has also urged authorities to collect the long-pending electricity revenue from dedicated and trunk-line users.
