End of the Half-Tank Era: Full Gas Cylinders Resume Sales
Gas dealers have reverted to selling full 14.2kg cylinders, citing unsustainable transportation costs caused by a massive hike in diesel prices.
Gas dealers in Nepal have officially decided to resume the sale of full 14.2kg LPG cylinders, moving away from the previous government-mandated half-cylinder (7.1kg) distribution. This decision, effective from Monday, was primarily driven by the recent and unexpected surge in diesel prices, which has made the logistics of transporting half-filled cylinders financially unviable for distributors. While the half-cylinder policy was originally implemented by the government to manage gas shortages and ensure wider distribution during a supply crisis, dealers now argue that the increased fuel overheads leave them with no choice but to return to full-capacity sales to maintain operational efficiency.
