Massive Traffic Crackdown in Kathmandu: Over 2,000 Violators Booked and Millions in Fines Collected in Just 24 Hours
The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police penalized 2,015 drivers and collected Rs 2.66 million in fines during a major 24-hour enforcement operation.

The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office reported a significant surge in traffic enforcement over the last 24 hours, recording 2,015 violations and collecting approximately Rs 2.66 million in fines. The crackdown covered a wide range of offenses, including 99 cases of driving under the influence and 193 instances of unauthorized ride-sharing. Furthermore, 139 drivers were cited for speeding, while 133 were penalized for ignoring traffic signals and 132 for lane discipline violations. Other penalties included 87 for illegal parking, 79 for unnecessary honking, and 79 for one-way violations, alongside 1,164 other various traffic-related infractions.
