Ministry of Finance Invites Applications for Nepal Insurance Authority Chairperson
The government opens executive recruitment for the top regulatory seat at the Nepal Insurance Authority, locking in strict master's degree requirements and senior managerial experience by Jestha 19.
The Ministry of Finance has formally opened the executive search for the next Chairperson of the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA), the country's autonomous insurance regulatory body. Executed under the strict mandates of the Insurance Act, 2022, a public vacancy notice issued by the appointed selection committee outlines rigorous qualification and ethical criteria for applicants. Eligible candidates must fit into a precise age bracket of 30 to 65 years and possess a minimum of a master's degree or equivalent in insurance, banking, monetary studies, law, economics, management, statistics, engineering, or public administration. Alongside academic credentials, the ministry requires at least five years of high-level managerial experience in related financial or technical sectors. To guarantee absolute governance standards, the selection committee has enforced sweeping exclusion criteria: foreign permanent residency (PR) holders, individuals currently executing public procurement contracts, and those blacklisted by financial authorities (unless three years have elapsed since their removal) are strictly barred. Furthermore, a permanent disqualification applies to anyone convicted of financial crimes, money laundering, corruption, or offenses against national heritage and wildlife. Interested candidates must submit their credentials to the Committee Secretariat under the Financial Sector Management and Corporation Coordination Division by the deadline of Jestha 19.
