NEPSE Corrects by 12.36 Points; Turnover Reaches Rs. 3.89 Billion as Most Sectors Close Red
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a double-digit correction on Thursday, losing 12.36 points (0.44%) to close at 2,742.11. Despite an intraday high of 2,764.14, bearish sentiment dominated the floor, dragging down almost all major sector indices, with only the Trading and Mutual Fund sectors managing to stay marginally positive amidst a daily market turnover of Rs. 3.89 Arba.
Reversing the previous day's gains, the benchmark index opened at 2,762.17 points but failed to sustain its upward momentum, eventually hitting an intraday low of 2,734.21 before settling at 2,742.11. Market participation remained active with a total turnover of Rs. 3.89 Arba, accumulated through 44,744 transactions of over 8.95 million shares across 348 listed scrips. Total market capitalization was recorded at Rs. 46.76 Kharba. Ankhu Khola Jalvidhyut Company Ltd (AKJCL) led the commercial activity with the highest individual turnover of Rs. 17.72 crores, closing at Rs. 375.00. In terms of individual stock movements, Bungal Hydro Limited (BUNGAL) experienced highly volatile trading, ending among the top gainers up by 7.38% at Rs. 682.00, while Corporate Development Bank Limited (CORBL) faced severe selling pressure, leading the losers' chart with an 8.61% drop. Sectorally, the market breadth was overwhelmingly negative; the Trading and Mutual Fund sectors closed with minor gains, while the Hotels and Tourism index suffered the sharpest hit, dropping by 68.33 points (0.86%).
