Floods and Landslides Disrupt Nine Major Highways Across Nepal

Heavy rainfall has caused widespread flooding and landslides across Nepal, disrupting traffic on nine major highways, particularly in Koshi and Bagmati provinces. According to Nepal Police, several road sections have been completely blocked, while others remain open only for one-way traffic due to ongoing landslides and flood risks. Among the affected routes are the Mechi Highway in Ilam and Panchthar, the Prithvi Highway in Chitwan and Dhading, the Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchok, the Mid-Hill Highway in Khotang and Bhojpur, the BP Highway, Kanti Lokpath, and the Pasang Lhamu Highway in Rasuwa. Authorities have suspended traffic on the BP Highway and Kanti Lokpath until further notice due to the high risk of floods and landslides. Nepal Police has urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel and verify road conditions with the relevant authorities before beginning their journey.
