Festival Travel: Infrastructure Committee Issues 5-Point Directive for Safe and Smooth Public Transport

The Infrastructure Development Committee has directed the concerned authorities to make public transportation safer and more व्यवस्थित during Dashain, Tihar, Chhath, and other major festivals. The directives include deploying sufficient vehicles according to passenger demand, operating buses only from designated bus parks, ensuring ticket sales from authorized locations, and providing safe boarding and drop-off points. Authorities have also been asked to provide passenger assistance services for senior citizens, women, children, and persons with disabilities. In addition, the committee has called for advance assessment of road conditions and potential risks, preparation of alternative routes, vehicle inspections, driver rest periods, speed control, and strict action against overloading. Measures have also been sought to prevent ticket fraud, overcharging, and the sale of overpriced or low-quality food and other essential goods to travelers.
