Mustang Customs Collects Massive Rs. 6.66 Billion in Revenue!
Driven by a surge in trade following the full activation of the Korala border point with China, the Mustang Customs Office has recorded a historic revenue collection of Rs. 6.66 billion as of late May.
Mustang Customs Office, situated at Nhechu in Lomanthang Rural Municipality-1, has successfully amassed Rs. 6.66 billion in revenue up to May 29. Financial collections at the office saw a monumental spike after the Korala border crossing along the Nepal-China frontier transitioned into full-scale operations on September 16, 2025. Chief Customs Officer Bidur Chudal noted that this substantial financial windfall was primarily driven by customs duties on electric vehicles, apparel, and various other commodities imported into Nepal via the Korala transit corridor. Authorities emphasize that the unrestricted, full-fledged opening of this northern border gateway has significantly energized commercial trade in the mountainous district while providing a major boost to the national treasury.
