Singha Durbar Introduces Wheelchair Assistance Service for Persons with Disabilities and Senior Citizens

The Government of Nepal has introduced a wheelchair and facilitator service at government offices within Singha Durbar to improve accessibility for persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and government employees with mobility challenges. The service was officially launched by Chief Secretary Suman Raj Aryal, who said the initiative reflects the government's commitment to implementing disability rights and ensuring equal access to public services. Under the program, trained facilitators will accompany wheelchair users from the office premises to their respective departments, providing safe and convenient assistance throughout their visit. Officials said most government offices inside Singha Durbar are already disability-friendly, while the remaining infrastructure will be upgraded in the coming days. The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers added that the service will be available on a long-term basis, ensuring uninterrupted support for all eligible service seekers and employees at any time.
