Nepal's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shisir Khanal, commenced his four-day official visit to the People's Republic of China on Monday morning with a high-profile visit to the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research under the Chinese Academy of Sciences. According to an official statement from the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing, Minister Khanal emphasized the critical need for strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation between Nepal and China during his observation of the research facilities. Following his morning itinerary, the Foreign Minister is scheduled to hold formal diplomatic and bilateral talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing at 5:45 PM local time. Minister Khanal, who departed for Beijing on Sunday at the explicit invitation of his Chinese counterpart, is expected to conclude his official engagements and return to Nepal on June 17.
