Finance Minister Wagle Inaugurates Nepal Bank's Modern Provincial Hub in Hetauda
Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle urges banking institutions to prioritize public welfare during the inauguration of Nepal Bank Limited's new Bagmati provincial building, as the historic bank crosses NPR 400 billion in deposits.
The infrastructural and financial expansion of Nepal Bank Limited took center stage in Hetauda as Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle inaugurated its new three-story provincial headquarters, built for NPR 4.72 crore via the central bank's note fund. Addressing the assembly, the bank's executive leadership detailed a robust financial standing, highlighted by a customer base of 2.7 million and a workforce of 3,700 employees spanning 231 branches. Demonstrating strong fiscal alignment with national interests, the bank has channeled NPR 140 billion into government securities, while 51 percent of its post-tax profits flow directly back to the state treasury as the majority shareholder. Executive Director Tilakraj Pandey also pointed out a sharp drop in over-the-counter traffic, signaling a highly successful digital migration and rising consumer trust in the bank's electronic banking APIs and digital products.
