Government Allocates Rs. 700,000 for Legal and Regulatory Framework in FY 2083/84

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has clarified that an initial budget of Rs. 700,000 has been allocated for the formulation of laws, regulations, procedures, directives, and standards under the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84. Speaking during Friday’s National Assembly meeting, Wagle said the allocation covers the ministries as well as their respective commissions, departments, offices, and committees. He clarified that the Rs. 700,000 is only an initial allocation and that the concerned ministries can reallocate funds based on their requirements. Wagle also explained that budget allocations are sometimes made under an “unallocated” (Avanda) heading without specifying individual sub-headings. He said the current allocation was determined following coordination and correspondence between the two ministries and the Ministry of Finance. The Finance Minister further assured lawmakers that if the initial allocation proves insufficient, additional funds can be made available based on necessity and justification. He urged lawmakers to focus on the government's commitment rather than the technical details of how the allocation is presented in the budget book. Wagle emphasized that the government remains committed to providing the required resources and assured lawmakers that there should be no uncertainty over additional funding if the allocated amount falls short of actual requirements.
