Floods and Landslides Disrupt Major Highways Across Nepal

Persistent rainfall, floods, and landslides have severely disrupted transportation across Nepal, with several major highways either fully closed or operating under restrictions, according to Nepal Police. The worst impact has been reported in Bagmati Province, where nighttime traffic has been suspended on the BP Highway due to flood risks, while landslides have completely blocked the Arniko Highway at Jirokilo and Kodari in Sindhupalchok. In Koshi Province, the Mechi Highway in Ilam and the Mid-Hilly Highway in Khotang have been closed at various sections, with one-way traffic in parts of Bhojpur. The Pasang Lhamu Highway in Rasuwa remains open only for one-way movement, while the Kaligandaki Corridor in Baglung and sections of the Mahakali Highway in Darchula have also been shut due to landslides. Authorities have urged travelers to remain cautious and use alternative routes where available until conditions improve.
