President Paudel Ratifies Trio of Key Ordinances but Sidelines Crucial Decision on Constitutional Council!

President Ram Chandra Paudel issued three new ordinances on Saturday following the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, acting in accordance with Article 114, Clause (1) of the Constitution of Nepal. According to a press release from Ritesh Kumar Shakya, spokesperson for the Office of the President, the newly enacted laws include the Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts Related to Health Sciences Academies (2083), the Special Provisions Ordinance Regarding the Removal of Public Officials (2083), and the Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts Related to Universities (2083).

While these three ordinances were officially issued on Saturday, May 19, 2083, the President had previously signed off on ordinances related to cooperatives and procurement. However, a highly anticipated ordinance regarding the Constitutional Council remains pending. Although the government recommended its issuance, it was noticeably absent from the latest list. Sources at the President's Office state that President Paudel is still reviewing the Constitutional Council ordinance and has held consultations with legal experts at Shital Niwas to discuss the matter further. These new enactments allow for immediate changes in health and university regulations and establish new legal frameworks for the dismissal of public officials.
