Taxpayer Gift Scheme Gains Momentum as Bill Registrations Surge 50-Fold

The government’s taxpayer incentive gift scheme has witnessed a sharp rise in consumer participation, with registered bills jumping from 7,077 in the first half of Shrawan to 357,144 in the second half. Detailed Paragraph:
Consumer participation in the government’s taxpayer incentive gift scheme has surged dramatically in its second phase, indicating growing interest in registering purchase bills through the digital system. According to figures shared on social media by Nabin Dhungana, Press Adviser to the Finance Minister, a total of 357,144 cash transaction bills were uploaded for the gift scheme between Shrawan 16 and Shrawan 31, compared with just 7,077 bills registered during the first 15 days of Shrawan. The second-phase participation was therefore nearly 50 times higher than in the first phase. The sharp increase suggests that consumers are increasingly responding to the government’s efforts to encourage them to obtain bills and register them digitally. According to Dhungana, participation has also increased through QR payments and online banking transactions, which allow consumers to participate in the scheme automatically. This indicates that the initiative is not only encouraging consumers to request bills for cash purchases but is also helping promote digital payment practices. The Inland Revenue Department has already announced the winners for the second phase covering Shrawan 16 to 31. A total of 17 winners were selected, comprising one bumper prize winner and 16 other winners. In the first phase, covering Shrawan 1 to 15, the department had announced one bumper prize winner and 13 other winners. The government aims to use the scheme to encourage consumers to obtain purchase bills and register them through the digital system. The rise in registered bills from just over 7,000 to more than 357,000 in the second phase highlights the growing appeal of the program and signals increased consumer participation in both bill registration and digital transactions.
