The Internal Debt Branch of the Public Debt Management Office (PDMO) is preparing to raise Rs. 14 billion through the issuance of short-term government Treasury bills. According to the office, the total issuance will comprise Rs. 9 billion worth of 182-day Treasury bills and Rs. 5 billion worth of 364-day Treasury bills. Of the total amount, Rs. 9 billion will be used to renew existing government debt, while the remaining Rs. 5 billion will be raised through new borrowing. The bidding process will take place on Monday, Kartik 16, 2083, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The official issuance date has been scheduled for Tuesday, Kartik 17, 2083. The 182-day Treasury bills worth Rs. 900 crore will mature on Baisakh 21, 2084, while the 364-day Treasury bills worth Rs. 500 crore will mature on Kartik 17, 2084. To encourage wider participation in the government securities market, 15% of the total issuance amount has been allocated for non-competitive bidders. However, commercial banks, development banks, and finance companies classified as Class 'A', 'B', and 'C' financial institutions by Nepal Rastra Bank will not be eligible to participate in the non-competitive bidding category. Other eligible investors intending to participate in the competitive bidding process must deposit 2.5% of their total bid amount into the designated Nepal Rastra Bank account by 2:00 PM on Kartik 16. The issuance is part of the government's domestic borrowing strategy to manage existing debt obligations and meet its financing requirements.
