PM Balen Shah Holds Security Briefings Over Rasuwa Flood Crisis

Prime Minister Balendra Shah has started discussions with the heads of Nepal’s security agencies regarding the ongoing crisis caused by the Bhote Koshi River flood in Rasuwa. On Monday, Prime Minister Shah met with Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel and received a briefing on the search, rescue, relief and disaster-management operations conducted by the Nepali Army so far. Following the meeting with the Army chief, the Prime Minister also began receiving a briefing from Armed Police Force Inspector General Narayan Datt Poudel. He was also scheduled to hold discussions with Nepal Police Inspector General Dan Bahadur Karki. The government has mobilized security agencies to conduct search and rescue operations following the severe flooding in Rasuwa. Prime Minister Shah is holding separate consultations with the security chiefs to assess the progress of rescue operations, relief management and the next steps required to address the crisis. Based on the information received from the security agencies, the Prime Minister is expected to make decisions aimed at making rescue and relief operations in the affected areas more effective.
