Heavy Rain Alert in Bagmati: Residents Urged to Stay on High Alert

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, Law and Cooperatives of Bagmati Province has urged residents to remain on high alert as heavy rainfall is expected in various parts of the province from Ashwin 9 to 11. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the forecast period may bring heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds in different areas of Bagmati Province. The ministry has warned that rising water levels in rivers and streams could increase the risk of flash floods, landslides and inundation, particularly in vulnerable areas. People living near rivers and streams, on steep slopes, in landslide-prone locations and in areas susceptible to flooding have been advised to exercise extra caution. The adverse weather may also disrupt road and air transportation. People planning to travel have been advised to check the latest weather and road conditions before leaving and to avoid long-distance or nighttime travel unless necessary. Residents have been encouraged to move livestock, food, medicines, important documents and other essential items to safer locations in advance. Families have also been urged to pay special attention to children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, pregnant women and people with illnesses. Authorities have instructed provincial and local government bodies, security agencies, volunteers and other stakeholders to remain prepared for possible emergencies. Evacuation arrangements have also been requested for people living in high-risk areas if the situation worsens. The ministry has urged the public to follow official weather forecasts, early warnings and advisories and rely only on verified information.
