Relief Funds Cross Rs 15 Billion as Bhote Koshi Flood Recovery Continues

More than Rs 15.06 billion is currently available across the government’s disaster and relief funds, with financial resources being mobilized to support people affected by the recent Bhote Koshi River flooding in Rasuwa. According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund alone holds Rs 11.27 billion in accounts maintained at nine commercial banks. The balance stands at Rs 11.27 billion, 2 lakh, 60 thousand and 685. The fund also maintains US dollar-denominated accounts at Himalayan Bank and Laxmi Sunrise Bank, with a combined balance of around USD 24.80 million. The government has reported that the combined balance across the relevant disaster and relief fund accounts has reached Rs 15.06 billion, 56 lakh, 28 thousand and 167. These funds are being used to provide financial support to disaster-affected communities and facilitate relief, recovery and rehabilitation efforts following natural disasters, including the recent flooding in the Bhote Koshi River area of Rasuwa. The government has already released Rs 1 billion from the Disaster Relief Fund for flood-affected areas. The remaining resources are expected to help sustain ongoing relief operations and provide further financial assistance to communities affected by the disaster.
