Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Tunnel Search Ends With No People Found

The Nepali Army has confirmed that no people were found inside the tunnel of the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project following the devastating flood in the Bhote Koshi River. A rescue team led by the Nepali Army had been searching the tunnel after concerns emerged that workers could have been trapped in its final section. The search involved engineers and a drone team, which helped inspect the deeper and difficult-to-access sections of the tunnel. According to the Army, the team entered the inner section of the tunnel and continued its search up to the final point. Drones were also flown inside the tunnel to conduct a more extensive inspection. However, the search teams found no human presence inside the tunnel. Following the completion of the search and confirmation that nobody was trapped inside, the Nepali Army team concluded the operation and returned to Dhunche, Rasuwa. The search formed part of the wider rescue and disaster-response operation launched following the severe Bhote Koshi flood, which has caused extensive damage and disruption in Rasuwa.
