Power Supply to Be Interrupted at Night in Kathmandu Valley for 11 Days

The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has announced that electricity supply will be interrupted at various locations in Kathmandu Valley for 11 days as it carries out technical upgrading and strengthening works at the Teku Substation. According to the Authority, power supply will be disrupted only during nighttime hours to minimize inconvenience to consumers. Depending on the location, the interruption will take place either from 11:00 PM to 2:00 AM or from 2:00 AM to 5:00 AM, for a maximum of three hours. The work includes distribution line strengthening, installation of new relays on 11 kV panels, and installation of a substation automation system. The upgrades are aimed at making the electricity distribution system safer, more reliable, and technologically advanced. Under the Ratnapark Distribution Center, power interruptions have been scheduled for the Sundhara-1, Sundhara-2, Thapathali, Mint, Kalimati, Bhimsensthan, Kshetrapati, and Tripureshwor feeders on different dates from Ashoj 4 to Ashoj 13. Similarly, the Pulchowk feeder, Bagmati feeder, and Bhaisipati-Ring Road feeders under the Pulchowk Distribution Center will face interruptions between Ashoj 5 and Ashoj 8. Under the Kuleshwor Distribution Center, the Tahachal, Chobhar, Kuleshwor, and Kirtipur feeders will experience scheduled interruptions on Ashoj 12–14, with different nighttime time slots. The NEA said old equipment will be replaced or retrofitted, followed by testing of the new automation and protection systems. If the work is completed ahead of schedule, electricity supply will be restored before the announced time.
