Six-Point Plan to Ease LPG Supply in Kathmandu

Nepal Oil Corporation and LPG sellers have agreed on six measures to maintain gas supplies in Kathmandu after the Krishna Bhir road disruption.

Six-Point Plan to Ease LPG Supply in Kathmandu

Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) and LPG distributors have agreed on a six-point plan to ensure a smooth supply of cooking gas in Kathmandu Valley and surrounding areas after the collapse and obstruction of the Krishna Bhir section of the Prithvi Highway halted LPG bullet trucks. Under the arrangement, LPG cylinders will temporarily be filled at industries in the Terai and transported to Kathmandu through alternative routes. The available gas will be distributed proportionally among sellers, with household and essential consumers receiving priority. Commercial sales will remain suspended until supplies return to normal. Students, persons with disabilities, patients, senior citizens, shelters and flood-affected people will receive priority where necessary. Commercial consumers will have to coordinate with their respective dealers or industries and refill their cylinders directly at Terai-based plants. In addition, two representatives from LPG sellers will be deployed to the NOC’s Quick Response Team (QRT) to assist with distribution and consumer facilitation.
