Nepal Exports Electricity Worth Over Rs 5.09 Billion in Bhadra

Nepal exported electricity worth more than Rs 5.09 billion to India and Bangladesh during Bhadra, according to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). A total of 56 crore 56 lakh 6 thousand 443 units of electricity were exported during the month. The NEA sold electricity through bilateral agreements and electricity exchange markets. More than 42 crore 16 lakh units were exported under bilateral agreements, generating over Rs 3.64 billion in revenue. Meanwhile, more than 14 crore 39 lakh units were sold through the exchange market, generating approximately Rs 1.45 billion. Electricity exports to Bangladesh have currently been halted following damage to structures at the Chilime and Trishuli hydropower projects caused by the Bhote Koshi flood. The NEA said efforts are underway to obtain the necessary approval from India to resume electricity exports to Bangladesh from other hydropower projects.
