Government Declares Flood-Hit Areas Disaster Crisis Zones for Three Months

The government has declared local levels affected by recent disasters as disaster crisis zones for a period of three months. The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting held today, according to government spokesperson Sasmita Pokhrel. The declaration comes following widespread impacts from flooding reported in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading, where normal life has been disrupted and infrastructure has been affected. The government is expected to use the crisis-zone declaration to facilitate and strengthen rescue, relief, recovery and rehabilitation efforts in the affected areas.
