Nepal Rastra Bank to Introduce New Rs. 50 Banknote with Enhanced Security Features

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) is preparing to introduce a new Rs. 50 denomination banknote into circulation. The Currency Management Department of the central bank has published details of the new note, including its key security features designed to make it easier for the public to identify genuine currency. The front side of the new note features an image of Mount Everest at the center. A rhododendron-shaped watermark is placed on the right side, while a watermark displaying the numeral “50” is located on the left. The note also carries the Governor’s signature and the year 2082 B.S. For added security, the new banknote contains a 1.2-millimeter-wide security thread featuring various security indicators that can be viewed through the designated authentication system. The reverse side of the note features an image of a snow leopard, along with the English name of Nepal Rastra Bank, the denomination in words, and the year of issue. NRB has also clarified that previously issued Rs. 50 banknotes will remain valid and continue to circulate even after the new notes are introduced.
