Rescue Efforts Intensified for Workers Trapped Inside Trishuli-3A Tunnel

Efforts to rescue employees and workers trapped inside the tunnel of the Trishuli-3A Hydropower Project have been stepped up following the flood disaster. The rescue team is currently attempting to enter the tunnel through the project’s cable outlet tunnel. A joint team comprising technical experts from the Nepal Electricity Authority, the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police has been deployed at the site. Authorities are working to clear physical structures and other obstructions blocking access to the tunnel. The rescue team has located the upper section, known as the “crown,” of the tunnel and is using an excavator to break through the structure and create an entry route. Officials are preparing to send rescuers inside as soon as a safe passage is established. The rescue operation is being conducted on an emergency basis, with authorities hoping that favorable weather conditions will allow them to determine the situation inside the tunnel and accelerate the rescue of those trapped.
