259 Bodies Recovered in Chitwan After BhoteKoshi Flood
Security personnel have recovered 259 bodies from the banks of the Narayani River in Chitwan following the devastating BhoteKoshi flood in Rasuwa. Only nine victims have been identified so far.
A total of 259 bodies believed to have been swept away by the devastating BhoteKoshi flood in Rasuwa have been recovered in Chitwan. Security personnel collected the bodies from various locations along the banks of the Narayani River as the floodwaters carried victims and debris downstream. SSP Rajendra Dhamala of the Bagmati Province Police Office said that only nine of the recovered bodies have been identified so far. Families and relatives helped authorities confirm the identities of the victims. Those identified include Police Assistant Sub-Inspector Ramkaji Poudel, 43, of Nuwakot, and ASI Ramhari Khadka of Manthali-4, Ramechhap. Other identified victims are Kabilaal Chaudhary of Kohalpur-11, Banke; Bhuwan Magar of Uttargaya-1, Betrawati, Rasuwa; Ramesh Magar of Hetauda-15, Makwanpur; Arjun Balami of Kakani, Nuwakot; Ramesh Tharu of Kohalpur-11, Banke; Terina Gurung of Kispang-5, Nuwakot; and Pema Singh Sherpa of BhoteKoshi Rural Municipality-3, Sindhupalchok. Meanwhile, 96 bodies recovered in Chitwan have been buried for safe management. DSP Chandra Bhushan Yadav of the District Police Office, Chitwan, said the unidentified bodies were buried in a forest area near Devghat Dham. Authorities continue to work on identifying the remaining victims and managing the recovered bodies appropriately.
