Over 200 Workers Missing as Devastating Flood Hits Hydropower Projects in Rasuwa
Severe flooding in the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers has caused major human and physical damage to hydropower projects in Rasuwa, with more than 200 employees and workers reported missing or trapped.
The floods have severely affected five major hydropower projects in Rasuwa, with more than 200 employees and workers reported missing or stranded. Upper Trishuli-1 has suffered the largest impact, with dozens of workers and staff out of contact, while 60 people are trapped inside the Langtang Khola project tunnel. Employees at Rasuwagadhi and Mailung Khola projects are also missing, while two workers at Rasuwa Bhote Koshi remain unaccounted for. Rescue efforts have been hampered by damaged roads, disrupted communications, difficult terrain, and adverse weather, with authorities coordinating helicopter evacuations.
