    NEPSE Bloodbath: Market Cap Wiped Out by NPR 85 Billion as All Sectors Crash!

    The NEPSE index dropped nearly 2% this week, wiping out NPR 85 billion in market capitalization as all 13 sub-indices ended in the red.

    The NEPSE index closed nearly 2% lower this week, ending at 2,738.72 points. This represents a decline of 1.79% or 49.98 points compared to the previous week's close of 2,788.70. During the four trading days this week, the market fell on three days and gained on only one. Key indicators including the Sensitive Index, Float Index, and Sensitive Float Index all recorded losses.

    Trading activity also slowed down significantly. The average daily turnover dropped by 9.90% to NPR 5.29 billion, down from NPR 5.87 billion in the preceding week. Consequently, the total market capitalization shrank by approximately NPR 85 billion, falling from NPR 47.56 trillion to NPR 46.71 trillion.

    In a rare across-the-board decline, all 13 sub-indices ended the week lower. The Hydropower sub-index saw the steepest percentage drop of 3.76%, while the Manufacturing and Processing sector lost the most in terms of points, shedding 278.35 points. The Development Bank sub-index saw the most marginal decline at 0.44%.

    Among individual stocks, Shikhar Power Development led the gainers with a 5.86% increase. On the other hand, Mai Khola Hydropower shares plummeted by 22.84%, and Hotel Forest Inn shares fell by approximately 14.5%. According to floor sheet analysis, Himalayan Everest Insurance and Nabil Balanced Fund 3 were among the most bought stocks, while Eastern Hydropower and Global IME Bank were among the most sold.
