Veteran Indian actor Nana Patekar, one of the most respected names in Hindi and Marathi cinema, has died at the age of 75 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Goa. He was found unconscious at his home in Dona Paula and was rushed to Manipal Hospital, where doctors attempted to revive him for around 45 minutes through CPR. He was declared dead at approximately 5:20 AM on Thursday. Patekar had a career spanning more than four decades and was widely recognised for his intense performances, distinctive dialogue delivery, and ability to portray complex characters. He made his film debut with Gaman in 1978 and went on to deliver memorable performances in films including Parinda, Prahaar, Krantiveer, Agni Sakshi, Khamoshi, Apaharan, Raajneeti, Welcome, and the Marathi film Natsamrat. Throughout his career, Patekar received three National Film Awards, several other prestigious honours, and the Padma Shri for his contribution to Indian cinema and the arts. His death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, filmmakers, and admirers across India, marking the loss of one of Indian cinema’s distinctive and influential performers.
