Home Minister Gurung Warns Officials Against Leaking Confidential Information
Home Minister Sudan Gurung has warned officials and employees under the Ministry of Home Affairs and its agencies against sharing or misusing confidential state information, saying violators will face legal action.
Home Minister Sudan Gurung has cautioned officials and employees working under the Ministry of Home Affairs and its affiliated agencies against providing confidential or sensitive information to unauthorized individuals or organizations. In a social media post today, Gurung emphasized that access to state information carries public responsibility and does not grant anyone the authority to misuse such information. Gurung said even seemingly minor pieces of information, clues, or confidential details can play an important role in crime prevention, investigations, and establishing facts surrounding serious incidents. He warned that anyone found deliberately misusing confidential state information or betraying the country or their organization would not be spared and would be dealt with according to the law. The warning comes a day after Armed Police Force AIG Banshiraj Dahal was suspended over allegations of leaking sensitive security-related information and violating official conduct. The Home Ministry has formed an investigation team to examine the matter and directed it to complete the inquiry and submit its report within three days. However, the ministry has not revealed the specific information Dahal is alleged to have leaked.
