Government Orders Strict Action Against Black Marketing and Overcharging Ahead of Dashain

The government has ordered immediate legal action against businesses involved in artificial shortages, black marketing, and overcharging passengers during the Dashain festival. The decision was made at the 75th meeting of the Central Monitoring and Evaluation Committee, chaired by the Chief Secretary. The government will intensify surprise market inspections to ensure the smooth supply of essential goods, including food, cooking gas, fuel, and medicines, while controlling unfair trade practices. Traffic police and regulatory agencies have also been instructed to take strict action against long-distance transport operators charging excessive fares, engaging in ticket black marketing, and carrying passengers beyond vehicle capacity.
