Government disaster and relief funds have reached Rs. 17.06 billion, as financial support continues to pour in following the Bhotekoshi River flood in Rasuwa.

Financial contributions to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund and Prime Minister’s Relief Fund continue to increase following the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa. According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the combined balance in various accounts of the funds had reached Rs. 17.06 billion as of 8:00 PM today. Of the total amount, Rs. 12.57 billion is deposited in accounts maintained at nine commercial banks under the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. In addition, the dollar-denominated accounts held at Himalayan Bank and Laxmi Sunrise Bank contain approximately US$2.92 million. The government has already released Rs. 1 billion from the disaster relief fund for areas affected by the floods. The continued inflow of financial assistance is expected to support relief, rescue, rehabilitation, and recovery efforts in the flood-affected regions.
