Global IME Bank has announced Rs. 5 crore in financial assistance to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support search and rescue, immediate relief, medical assistance, and long-term rehabilitation efforts for communities affected by the devastating Bhote Koshi flood.
Global IME Bank Limited has announced a financial contribution of Rs. 5 crore to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support search and rescue operations, immediate relief, and long-term rehabilitation of citizens affected by the sudden and devastating flooding in the Bhote Koshi River. The catastrophic flood has caused extensive erosion, inundation, and destruction across riverbank settlements in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Chitwan, and other downstream areas. The disaster has resulted in significant loss of life, people being reported missing, and the displacement of numerous families. The powerful river current has also damaged or swept away local settlements, bridges, roads, and hydropower infrastructure, causing widespread human and economic losses. Expressing heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives and sympathy to the bereaved families, the bank said its contribution aims to support the search for missing persons, medical treatment for the injured, immediate provision of food and shelter to affected communities, and long-term reconstruction of damaged infrastructure. The bank stated that it views corporate social responsibility as an important responsibility, particularly during national crises and natural disasters, when timely support can help ease the suffering of affected citizens. Global IME Bank has also emphasized that it has consistently provided financial, material, and humanitarian assistance during major disasters in different parts of the country, including floods, landslides, inundation, earthquakes, and pandemics. The latest contribution reflects the bank’s continued commitment to supporting communities and assisting national relief and recovery efforts during times of crisis.
