NAIMA Pledges Rs. 50 Lakh for BhoteKoshi Flood Relief and Rehabilitation

The Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) has announced a contribution of Rs. 5 million (Rs. 50 lakh) to support relief and rehabilitation efforts for victims of the devastating flood in the BhoteKoshi River in Rasuwa. According to a press statement issued by the association, the amount will be deposited into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. NAIMA expressed deep sorrow over the significant loss of lives and property caused by the disaster, while paying tribute to those who lost their lives and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured. NAIMA Chairperson Ritu Singh Vaidya said supporting the government and affected citizens during such a difficult time is a shared responsibility of the private sector. She appreciated the readiness shown by member companies to contribute to relief efforts and emphasized that cooperation among the government, private sector and communities is essential for effective relief and rehabilitation. In addition to financial assistance, NAIMA’s member companies have also been supporting relief efforts through transportation and logistics services using various available resources. The association also expressed appreciation for government agencies, security personnel, healthcare workers and volunteers involved in search, rescue and relief operations. It urged all stakeholders to come forward and provide support according to their capacity and available resources. The contribution from the private sector comes at a critical time, as the floods have caused extensive damage to hydropower projects in Rasuwa and Nuwakot, while hundreds of workers are reportedly still out of contact.
