Bidya Devi Bhandari Takes Oath as UML Senior Leader

Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has taken the oath as the Senior Leader of the CPN-UML before party Chairman KP Sharma Oli. She took the oath during the party’s Standing Committee meeting held on Thursday. The UML Central Committee had recently appointed Bhandari as the party’s Senior Leader, placing her second in the party hierarchy after the chairperson. The decision was initially made by the Secretariat on Ashoj 8 and was subsequently endorsed by the Central Committee. Thursday’s meeting marks Bhandari’s first participation in a UML meeting in her new role as Senior Leader. In this capacity, she is entitled to participate in meetings of the Central Committee, Politburo, Standing Committee and Secretariat. Before being elected President, Bhandari served as a UML Vice Chairperson.
